EFFECTS OF FOOD ON INTESTINAL MICROFLORA IN NONHUMAN PRIMATES
ABSTRACT
More and more studies have shown that the incidence rate of human and animal diseases is related to their eating habits. The difference of eating habits often affects the balance of nutrients metabolism and intestinal flora in the host body, which leads to the occurrence of diseases. Non human primates (NHPs), as close relatives of human beings, are ideal models to study the effect of dietary habits on intestinal microbial changes. In this study, the composition of intestinal microflora of nonhuman primates with different feeding habits was analyzed by highthroughput sequencing of 16SrRNA Gene. The results showed that although the NHPs fed with different feeds had common characteristic flora, the phylum Pachytene, Bacteroidea and Proteus were the main flora of primates. The diversity of intestinal microflora in fruit eating and leaf eating primates was significantly higher than that in omnivorous primates, indicating that the higher intake of plant fiber, the higher diversity of intestinal microflora. At the same time, different eating habits also affect blood routine and blood biochemical indicators. This study preliminarily revealed that the relationship between intestinal flora and host is the result of interaction and longterm evolution. There are differences in intestinal flora of animals with different dietary habits, which are related to their nutritional metabolism and disease occurrence, providing a theoretical basis for healthy diet in the future.
