本文通过整理归纳大量相关文献，概述了近年来校园滨水景观在生态性与文化性两方面的研究发展与内容，归纳了现存的问题，为设计具有地域文化特色、生态性强的校园滨水景观做了理论准备。本课题对大学江北新校区核心滨水景观进行了详细设计，并撰写了设计说明，从基址分析、设计目标与定位、设计原则、总体规划、专项设计等方面对设计内容进行了阐述，并从交通系统设计、竖向规划设计、景观与规划设计、植物景观设计、水体生态设计、建筑与小品设计规划六个方面进行了具体说明。在保持总体规划的完整性的情况下，运用生态浮岛的技术手段突出核心滨水景观的生态作用，并且在植物景观、小品设计等方面融入校园与地域文化特征，从而达到因地制宜、合理布局、功能完备的要求。并做到在保持景观的美观性与舒适性的同时，融入校园的特色文化精神，同时做好生态设计，打造良好的校园滨水景观空间。在保持校园整体规划完整性的情况下，充分展示校园文化特色，营造良好的滨水生态环境，集观赏休憩、交流活动于一体，方便师生交流学习。
