大数据时代下基于SPOC的英语专业学习创新模式探讨
大数据时代汹涌而来,改变着人们的生活和学习方式,传统的学习模式渐渐难以满足个体的个性化需求,学生不再单纯依赖教师的讲授来获取知识,还可以通过互联网来获得新的、最前沿的科学文化知识,因此在线学习模式逐渐受到欢迎。SPOC作为一种非常受欢迎的在线学习模式也日益受到国外高校的青睐,也出了一些成功案例。本文以大数据为背景,以SPOC为主要研究对象,以英语学习模式为例,通过SPOC与传统学习模式和SPOC与MOOC的比较分析研究找到SPOC的优势所在,分析其应用的必要性,并找到英语学习的创新模式。

Big Data, SPOC, and foreign language teaching give a strong sense of the times. In today's world, the development of Big Data is the trend, SPOC is a hot spot, and English is the essential tool to achieve the country and the international integration. The development of Big Data has led to a deeper level of informatization, information technology prompts the appearance and development of SPOC. The comprehensive integration of the information technology and English course is the organic part of this curriculum. It makes these three concepts (big data, SPOC, English) seem to have the logical relation with rich connotation. This paper will focus on the background of the era of big data, focusing on the advantages and functions of SPOC and its enlightenment to the innovation model of English learning
1.1 The Outline of the SPOC and Its Development Process
SPOC is the abbreviation of small private online course. “Small” refers to the number of students, in general, among dozens of people to hundreds of people. Small is conducive to enhance the learning involvement, interaction and finish class rate. “Private” refers to a course which completely open to the “small scale” applicants who meet the entry conditions but partially open to hearers. So it is privacy. It is generally believed that this concept was first used by Professor Fox. SPOC originated from MOOC, which is a new learning model based on the "hybrid learning theory" and combining the online and offline model. Someone said that the SPOC is the competitor of MOOC, but for this statement, Professor Fawkes does not agree. He believes that SPOC is not denying MOOC, but can be better to play the potential of MOOC, making the good quality resources of MOOC applied to schools, classrooms, and other small groups. SPOC is known as “the next generation of textbooks”, and many experts believe that the emergence of SPOC means that the “post-MOOC era” is coming.

SPOC is a newly emerging learning model, including University of California at Berkeley, Tsinghua University, and many colleges and universities use this model of teaching in some courses and achieved good results. In SPOC model, students use the network to get the teaching video and repeat to watch the video to acquire the theoretical knowledge so that students can master theoretical knowledge more solid. In class teaching, the teachers mainly to train students’ ability to solve practical problems by using the theoretical knowledge, not only make the students understand the theoretical knowledge better, but also can improve the students' practical ability. Students can through online resources to realize a group discussion and finish the homework. The ability of online information gathering can provide a large amount of data to teachers. It is helpful to teachers to adjust the course content timely and give more targeted guidance to students. SPOC emphasizes the control of the register number, selecting students by charging and other modes, so the gap between students will be small. It is helpful to the teaching organization. Most of the SPOC curriculums incorporate the offline part so that students and teachers can have a face-to-face communication. It can help students to learn well. So, SPOC model has more advantages than the traditional learning model. And compared with MOOC, it is closer to the learning process of the universities than other advanced learning modes. From what has been discussed above, it is necessary to apply SPOC in the learning mode.
